Tomas Schmit and Armin Hundertmark

Tomas Schmit (July 13, 1943 Wipperfürth, Germany – October 4, 2006 in Berlin, Germany) was an action and concept artist, draftsman and author. He is one of the pioneers of the Fluxus movement.

Schmit grew up in Thier in and in Cologne. In 1961 he met Nam June Paik, about whom he met George Maciunas and the first Fluxus activities.
In 1962 he took part in the performance of Neo-Dada in the music, directed by the Düsseldorf Kammerspielen, as well as the parallel performances of Neues Musik in Amsterdam and developed his first “pieces”. He subsequently took part in most European Fluxus manifestations.

In 1965, Schmit moved to Berlin and together with other Fluxus artists, he performed at the Music Festival in the Galerie René Block in the Forum Theater.

Since the beginning of the 1960s, Schmit worked on language texts, texts, and began drawings in the late 1960s. During the winter semester and the summer semester of 1979/80, he taught at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg.
