Rudolf Schlichter (December 6, 1890 in Calw, Germany – May 3, 1955 in Munich, Germany) was a artist and one of the most important representatives of the New Objectivity.
He was a soldier in the first world war but he returned only after one year because of a hunger strike and became a member of a soldier Council in which workers and soldiers tried to end the First World War.
He was one of the founders of the group Rih and was a member of the November Group, the Berlin Secession, the Berlin Dadaists and the KPD.
His object at the First International Dada Fair which was a soldier doll with a pig’s head caused a scandal which is why he was charged with insulting by the Reichswehr.
