RÜHM, GERHARD
Gerhard Rühm (February 12, 1930 in Vienna, Austria) is a writer, composer and visual artist.
Rühm studied piano and composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. After his studies he took private lessons.
Since the early 1950s, he has produced phonetic poems, pictorial poems, visual poetry, photomontages and book objects.
He is co-founder of the Viennese group.
From 1972 to 1996 he was a professor at the College of Fine Arts in Hamburg, and from 1978 to 1982 he was the president of the Grazer Autorenversammlung.
Rühm’s works are located in the border of music, language, gestures and visuals.
