BRUS, GÜNTER
Günter Brus (1938 in Ardning, Austria) is one of the co-founder of the Viennese Actionism in 1964, where he disregarded conventions and taboos with the intent of shocking the viewer.
To escape a six months prison sentence in which he was convicted in 1970 on charges of “denigration of the Austrian state symbols”, he fled with his family to West Berlin and returned to Austria in 1976.
While he has aroused in the 1960s with his actions stir, he has gone back to the drawing since the early 1970s.
