UEMAE, CHIYU

Chiyu Uemae (1920 Kyoto, Japan) artist and founding members of the Gutai group.

In 1938 he run away from home to be an artists.

1940 he worked for the Navy in Maizuru and studied about arts by art books.
7 years later he had his first exhibition of Nikikai

1953 he started to studie under Jiro Yoshihara and in 1954 one of founding members of the Gutai group.

He took part in all exhibitions of the Gutai group.
