Herbert Böttger (August 8, 1898 in Krefeld, Germany – May 23, 1954 in Buederich, Germany) was a painter and member of the “Rheinischen Sezession” and the “Rhein Gruppe”.
From 1919 to 1925 Böttger visited the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and studied with Heinrich Nauen and Franz Kiederich. He then went on to study in Italy, Switzerland and Austria.
In 1928 he became a member of the “Rheinischen Sezession” and two years later he joined the “Rhein Gruppe”. In 1937, Böttger’s paintings were confiscated by the Nazis.
His style was distinguished by detail precision and reduced coloring in unpainted landscapes and portraits.
